Continuing its goal of enriching and inspiring the creative community, adobo magazine will be staging its second advertising seminar dubbed as adobo Festival of Ideas. Targeting advertising, marketing and creative communications students and entry-level professionals, the festival aims to prep the young to the advertising world.

With this year’s theme Driving the Creative Economy, we take a look at our industry as a ecological system that thrives on the exchange of ideas, innovation and healthy symbiotic relationships as we network online and in real life.

In 2013, Dan received the prestigious Young Guns Award by the Art Directors Club in New York. Dan is the co-founder of Plus63 Design Co., a design studio that creates brand identities, strategize communications, design and illustrate for print & digital.

    Buboy Paguio

    Buboy is a hybrid creative based in AKQA Shanghai as a Senior Art Director / Innovation Engineer, tasked with pushing Nike, Jordan Brand and NBA creative work. A jack­of­all­trades, he is known for a vast technical set of skills, fusing art, science and technology.

    Before joining AKQA, Buboy was an ACD / Creative Technologist at Leo Burnett KL with +cruz at the helm. Setting the bar high for creative work on clients such as Maxis, Hotlink and Samsung Malaysia.

    Buboy kicked­off his first big advertising gig at DM9 Jayme Syfu winning the country's first Cannes Lions Grand Prix with Smart TxtBks and a haul of recognition from 2013 to 2014 (Spikes, D&AD, One Show, Epica, AME, Clio, Adfest).

    Prior to advertising, he worked at digital production houses from the Philippines to Vietnam.

    Ramon Jimenez

    Secretary Ramon R. Jimenez Jr. was appointed as Secretary of Tourism by President Benigno S. Aquino III in September 2011. Prior to this appointment, he spent 35 years in the field of advertising, starting his career with Ace Compton Advertising to Ace-Saatchi and Saatchi Advertising, Jimenez Basic Advertising, and finally WOO Consultants. His work in advertising has been closely associated with the steady and tremendous success of many home-grown Philippine brands.

    Secretary Jimenez is the man behind the country’s tourism campaign, "It’s More Fun in the Philippines." With his marketing communications experience, Secretary Jimenez aims to build enough energy around tourism to give the Philippines a positive image. Under his leadership, the DOT has actively espoused policy reforms and embarked on convergence projects with government agencies and the private sector. He hopes to transform the DOT into a primary selling unit with the ultimate goal of not only improving statistics, but also ensuring that every tourism success would include and benefit as many Filipinos as possible.

    David Guerrero

    Creative Chairman BBDO Guerrero

    David put his name on the door of BBDO Guerrero, Manila when it opened in 1998. And since then the office has been one of the most consistently awarded agencies in the region. In 2013 the authoritative Gunn Report ranked it as one of the top 50 creative agencies in the world. And in 2014 Campaign Magazine named him South East Asia Creative Person of the Year.

    Leeroy New

    Leeroy New (b. 1986, General Santos City) is a Manila-based artist-designer whose practice overlaps and intersects with film, theater, product design, and fashion. He is a graduate of the Philippine High School for the Arts, where he majored in visual arts, and the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts. He has received several citations for his work, including: the grand prize for sculpture in the 2005 Metrobank Art Awards; the 2009 Ateneo Art Awards, wherein he was awarded the La Trobe Residency Grant in Australia and the Artesan Gallery Residency Grant in Singapore; a nomination for the 2011 Signature Art Prize, Singapore; the 2012 Cultural Center of the Philippines 13 Artists Award and the 2014 Metrobank Foundation Award for Continuing Excellence and Service.
